Brevard Zoo’s Inaugural Wild Turkey Trot 3k Kicks Off Thanksgiving

by | Nov 3, 2025

Get ready to lace up your running shoes and embrace the Thanksgiving spirit! Brevard Zoo is thrilled to announce its very first Wild Turkey Trot 3k, set to take place on Thursday, November 27, 2025, with a prompt 7:30 a.m. start. This family-friendly event is the perfect way to kick off your holiday, offering a unique opportunity to run or walk through the zoo’s beautiful grounds. Imagine passing by incredible animals and natural scenery as you get your steps in before the big feast. While the zoo itself will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, this special morning race provides a wonderful, exclusive experience for participants, making it a memorable start to the holiday weekend.

Wild Turkey Trot 3K: A Fun and Festive First Run

This inaugural 3k promises a fun and festive atmosphere for all. The course winds its way through the zoo, offering scenic views and encounters with nature. For those needing a boost, a water and Gatorade station will be conveniently located along the route, as well as at the start and finish lines. Top finishers will be recognized, with prizes for the top 10 overall male and female runners, and the top 5 in the 11 years and under division for both genders. Every participant who crosses the finish line will receive a special turkey-themed medal and a commemorative running hat to remember their accomplishment. Race shirts are also available for purchase online before the event for $20.

Awards, Medals, and Race Gear

To make your Thanksgiving weekend even more rewarding, registered runners can take advantage of a special offer: show your race bib at the zoo’s administrative office on Thanksgiving weekend for 50% off admission or $10 off a membership. This offer is valid for the runner only. Please note that the race has limited entries and operates on a strict “no refunds” policy, so it’s highly recommended to register early, as it is expected to sell out. For any questions or concerns, feel free to email support@thefloridamarathon.com. Orlando Health proudly presents the event and benefits the Brevard Zoo.

Virtual Wild Turkey Trot 3K

For those who registered for the virtual Wild Turkey Trot 3k, your packet will be mailed to you. To ensure smooth delivery, please submit your first name, last name, mailing address, and proof of distance completed to smoothrunningorg@gmail.com. All participants have a one-hour cutoff from their start time to complete the race; runners who do not finish within this timeframe will be escorted off the course.
